Professional Experience:
Responsibilities for Amerada included prospect generation, evaluation of existing acreage and acquisition of additional leasehold. Promoted to District Geologist in 1969 after three years. Managed the geological staff and reported to the head office in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In Tulsa, became assistant to the Exploration Vice President and developed a budget and forecast system for the Exploration Division.
As a consultant, participated in several consulting firms as a partner. Completed petroleum exploration and prospect generation in all parts of Wyoming with specific emphasis on the Powder River, Big Horn, Green River and Wind River Basins. Have discovered oil and gas production in the Powder River Basin. Have conducted regional geological studies in all areas of Wyoming.
Co-discovered with DeGaugh Well Service, Morton field in 1980. Drilled 19 productive wells.
While in Clark & George, a partnership, purchased acreage, developed drilling prospects and secured industry drilling funding from 1981 to 1990.
Jointly owned and participated in operations of Cole Creek, Beaver Hole, Hancock Draw and Bright Fields in Wyoming.
Held several retainers in the past to operate exploration programs and generate drilling prospects which have been successful in discovering new oil reserves. While working under retainer with Presido Oil Company, discovered Oxbow Minnelusa Oil Field, co-discovered Royal Draw Minnelusa Oil Field and extended Haight Minnelusa Field.
Completed numerous estate evaluations of oil and gas, coal bed methane and coal for net worth estate and Internal Revenue Service purposes.
Have been Permit Coordinator for Wold Trona Company, Inc. from 1992, to the present. Responsibilities include supervising subcontractors and writing permits. The permits include an Environmental Assessment for the BLM, Permit to Mine for the DEQ/Land Quality Division, and Air Quality Division Construction and Operation Permit, and Industrial Siting Council Permit. Also supervised the acquisition of rights-of-way as well as the Wyoming Department of Transportation approach. GGA has monitored the water wells for this project and maintains the permits for construction.
Have completed several Phase I Environmental Site Assessments of oil and gas properties for sale purposes in Wyoming, North Dakota and Colorado. Also conducted Phase I ESAs for real estate transactions.
Managed the regulatory issues for a large independent oil and gas company for all of Wyoming. Heavily involved in the Methane Operators Group and the Petroleum Association of Wyoming’s Coal Bed Methane committee.
Expert Witness Testimony
Davis vs. Consolidated Oil and Gas, 1988, Provided expert testimony on geology and oil well drilling on behalf of Adobe Resources, a partner to Consolidated. The case was the longest District Court case in Wyoming. The defense was successful. Davis appealed to the Wyoming Supreme Court but lost when the verdict was upheld in favor of Consolidated (802 P2d 840).
Lear vs. Parker Drilling (Marathon Oil Company) and Dunn, 1993, Compiled geological analysis of shallow gas sands in Oregon Basin Oil Field. The case was settled out of court.
Evertson vs. Dowell Schlumberger, Inc., 1993, Compiled geological and borehole log evaluation in Borie Oil Field. The case was settled.
Bolack vs. Universal Resources Corp. (Civil Action 96-CV-149-J) in U.S. District Court, District of Wyoming, Provided geological analysis of Clear Creek Field. Case settled out of court in Bolack's favor.
Testified as a professional geologist before the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission starting in 1973 to 1988. 1988 to 1992 served as a gubernatorial appointment to the Commission. Continue to appear before the Commission on behalf of clients since 1994 until present.
